29th SONA Annual General Meeting

The 29th Annual General Meeting of the Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA) was held on 26th Poush, 2080 (11th January 2024), at Alice Reception, Gairidhara, Kathmandu. It was the first AGM organized by the 15th Executive Committee (EC) of SONA after the handover by the past committee on 8th Baisakh, 2080, with a remarkable attendance of 226 participants.


The meeting commenced with a welcome address from the vice president, Mrs. Bhubaneswari Parajuli. The Secretary of the 15th EC, Mr. Arjun Basnet, presented the annual report on the overall program, the review of activities, and the achievements under the tenure of the 15th EC from Baisakh 9th, 2080. The secretary’s report provided a detailed overview of the proposed activities, contemporary issues and initiatives, events and activities, collaborations with nationaland international institutions and achievements over the past nine months. Similarly, the Treasurer, Mr. Lokendra Acharya, presented a comprehensive financial report outlining the society’s financial status, including reports on incomes and expenditures.


SONA president Mr. Iswar Lal Joshi presented some of the 15th EC’s future plans and strategies to promote architectural practices and professional excellence while also iving detailed insight into the vision and steps taken to expand the EC and make it more inclusive by adding architects from three different sectors to form a Sectorial Inclusive Working Committee.


The AGM was very interactive. After the presentation, there was a detailed Q&A session, and informal interactions continued throughout the night among the architects. The dinner at the venue concluded with a small musical session by the member architects.
