SONA Newsletter Vol. 17
Navigating through 2024 with anticipation of the opportunities that lie ahead, we are more than delighted to share Volume 17 of the SONA Newsletter with you. Marking the year with significant growth, fruitful collaborations, and steadfast commitment, the journey full of growth and learning adds dedication to architectural excellence.
In this message, we, the 15th Executive Committee, reflect upon the milestones and successes of the year and share our vision for the team’s continued impact. Highlighting the 29th SONA Annual General Meeting (AGM), it served as a pivotal moment for reflection and strategic planning for a new sense of purpose in the community.
One prompt response was to the Jajarkot Earthquake, which displayed the collective strength and compassion of the SONA members. With the collaborative efforts, crucial support and expertise were provided to the needy, underscoring our commitment to social responsibility and community. The Public Procurement of the Consulting Services marks a new step ahead which sets the standards for transparency and quality in architectural services and execution to the forefront of public projects will be ensured by this initiative.
Similarly, the “Architect Speaks Series” has brought together voices from within and outside the country and has been sparking insightful conversations and widespread sharing of knowledge. In the same way, the Building Speaks series has showcased the stories behind the remarkable structures and the power of thoughtful design.
SONA’s collaboration extended to various academic institutions through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with architecture colleges, which fosters the next generation of architects. Summing up, the 15th Executive Committee brainstorming sessions with the advisory panel add value to our commitment to continuous improvements and strategic vision.
Another significant milestone that we could add up for this year was the workshop on Gender Inclusivity in Architecture Design in various architecture colleges of the country. The workshop successfully emphasized the importance of creating spaces that were inclusive and equitable for the students. This dedication properly reinforced the promotion of diversity and inclusivity in the field. Undoubtedly, the highlight of this year will be the Archbuild Expo 2024, which promises to be one of the largest exhibitions on architecture, building, construction, design, engineering, interior, and allied industries in the country. This event, which will be held on the grounds of the Pulchowk Campus, has been getting all the preparations and support from SONA and is mainly focused on bringing professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world together for invaluable networking opportunities.
Reflecting on these achievements, we also look forward with optimism. As we conclude this edition of the SONA Newsletter, let’s not forget to acknowledge the challenges and triumphs of the past year and step up towards a brighter future. We will continue to build the communities that will step up for uplifting and enduring. There is no doubt that our collective vision will lead to an inclusive and beautiful world and that our architecture will have transformative power.
We wish you all a very Happy Dashain. May the festival bring you immense happiness, good health and prosperity.
With warm regards,
15th Executive Committee
